About us

The Street of Youth Association is the sister organization of Square of Youth Association. We are a youth organization based in Budapest, Hungary, and composed of Generation Z members, specifically focusing on the challenges, problems, and issues faced by Generation Z youth (18-25 years old youngsters). Our specialty is that we achieve this primarily by focusing on international projects and non-formal education. We believe in the power of non-formal education and in the power of Erasmus+. We understand that Gen Z young people are greatly helped through these project, especially with starting their careers, finding their path, and developing their soft skills.

Our members are exclusively Generation Z youth who want to contribute to their own community and support other young people. In the association, both the management and the local programs, as well as the international projects, are carried out by young people, for young people. We believe this is the most effective way to truly make an impact on the lives of other young people, engage with them and have a positive influence on our environment.

We can identify with the fact that this generation has completely different needs and is driven by different topics compared to previous generations.

Accordingly, there are three topics that we prioritize and consider the most important in our organization: the mental health of Gen Z young people; environment protection and sustainability; and the challenges related to the digital world, particularly social media.

We also believe in youth empowerment. It is important to mention that our association operates on a similar principle to a startup: if any of our members have a good idea or a passion project, the Street of Youth Association provides the opportunity and a supportive environment for them to realize it.

Activities

Although we are a young association, established only in February 2024, our members, who are mostly university students and young professionals, have significant experience as participants in Erasmus+ youth exchanges, training courses, and youth participation projects. We are working to utilize our experience and knowledge to create high-quality non-formal learning mobility opportunities.

Street of Youth Association is a newcomer organization in Erasmus+. However, we are currently working hard on projects in the previously mentioned topics, and we want to tackle the challenges we have experienced with other young people and make an impact on our environment and young peers through non-formal learning.

Regarding the mental health of Gen Z young people, we particularly focus on work-life balance, the challenges around starting careers, and excessive online presence. For the latter, a podcast series is in the pipeline, led by young people and featuring experts, which is currently in the planning phase.

Regarding environmental protection and sustainability, the topics of climate anxiety, sustainable habits, and climate activism are of particular concern to our organization and members. We are currently preparing an Erasmus+ youth exchange aimed at developing sustainable habits, which may take place in 2025.

Regarding the challenges arising from digitalization among young people, our focus is on the conscious use of social media, mindful media consumption and critical thinking, as well as screen time management.

We place special emphasis on organizing as many local programs as possible, or our members and other interested young people so that members can connect offline, such as hiking together, playing soccer, and board games.

As well as promoting Erasmus+, Visegrad, and other international short-term mobility programs, to provide young people with broad opportunities to participate in these initiatives. We have noticed that young people have limited access to these opportunities, and many are not even aware of them. We want to democratize this as much as possible and enable more young people to explore Europe, connect with their European peers, and learn about topics that concern them through non-formal opportunities. We pay special attention to social media in this regard.
